What a way to make a livin

We went to the musical 9 to 5 written by the ever so talented Dolly Parton. The line “Don’t judge me by my cover ‘cause I’m a real good book.” melted my heart, and it was all because of the great casting choices:Allison Janney stars as Violet, the super-efficient office manager ,Stephanie J. Block as divorcĂ©e Judy Bernly and sexy secretary Doralee Rhodes played by Megan Hilty. Stephanie and Megan where both in Wicked (Stephanie played Elphaba, and Megan played Glinda.) Thank you Peter and Michael, our gracious hosts!! we had a blast!

felling at home

Andrea and I have been having a great time together and it is so nice to have one of my sisters close by. (amber we miss you!)
Here's Andrea cruising...

Okay, I took this while on roller blades, so it doesn't look like it, but trust me, she was truckin'. Not bad for her first time, and she only bit it once, and that was when she was walking. Non-skateboard related. I was super impressed. first time!! wow!!
A few weekends ago we went to The Avocado Festival in Carpinteria, CA. You know on Inside the Actors Studio when James Lipton asks you what your favorite word is (chrysanthemum) and what you favorite sound is (steel drums) and if there's a heaven what do you want God to say? well, I want him/her to say something along the lines of "oh my dear heart, welcome! come eat avocados with me..."

Yes, that's avocado ice cream and it was the bomb. We also had beer battered and fried avocado with a spicy corn salsa, but the picture of that does not do it justice, so just imagine it! it was sooo good.

I was very upset today to find out that one of the main driving forces behind this Prop 8 initiative is the LDS church. First, I was upset because when I was a member of the church I was so proud of the fact that the church kept out of politics, never endorsing ballet measures or politicians. It meant that I could worship along side others with the gospel as our main concern. Unlike other religions, I admired that it was left up to individuals to make choices on how to believe when it came to matters of evolution, science, politics, etc. Something that wasn't an option in other strict christian churches. Of course most Mormons are Republicans and conservatives, but it wasn't a requirement nor a topic with in church classes and meetings. Outside of the church walls it could be ( and often was)a conversation with friends and fellow members, and at the time I would have loved to have resources like this...and this
But my heart sunk at the thought of politicized sacrament meetings and those who opposed Prop 8 being compared to "Satan's minions"
Then I found this, and it reminded me of the things I did love about the church. How brave these folks are....

Love to read?
my friend just sent me a link to a swanky little resource, and I want to share it with you! It's BookMooch!
the tag line- give books away, get books you want- sums it all up. And another friend of mine turned me onto Goodreads.com
This is a great site to write reviews of what you have read and share them with friends. I will not pretend to be a great reader, but I do love to read. I am really slow at it. Never the less, I plug on. And I love these new (to me) sites, and hope you will too.

Read, read, read.
~ William Faulkner ~

A little poetry, a little art, and a lot of random.
